Flow charts and Radio Chat

L.I to understand how flowcharts to relate to coding blocks\

To understand how to get the microbit to talk toanother microbit using radio signals

Link to Document

This week for tech we coded our microbits to send messages to another, to do this both mocrobits picked the same number between 1 and 255 so that the messages would be sent to the correct person. There were 3 different buttons that we could use to send messages and the message would be sent then the button was pressed.

Here is the code

Super Finger Champions

LI: To get faster at our times tables

Today we did a Super Fingers championship. We had to get into partners and then we had to verse  another pair and whoever won the round would verse the next opponent and then it would keep going until you made it into the finals. It was really fun doing the championship, when I watched everyone play each other and I noticed that everyone was getting better and better at their times table. More than one or two people can play, you can play anyone they don’t have, to your family you can play against friends people you haven’t seen. You don’t always have to write Super Fingers, you can do Mathematics, Draft, or whatever you want to call it whatever you want.

There were 24 people 12 draws 6 quarterfinals 3 semi-finals 2 wild cards 2 grand finals and 1 champion.

Provocation

LI: to Create a DLO that shows both points of view as well as your own.

We were tasked to make a DLO using provocation. A provocation is an action or speech that can show a powerful image in the reader’s mind.  For this task we picked an image from a site showing what it looks like after the olympics. We chose 5 to do the Bobsled venue in Sarajevo. The provocation was, Should host countries have to spend so much money on building Olympics venues?

In our opinion we think that they shouldn’t have spent that much money, because they could have used it again so that they didn’t need to waste so much money, and if they did that they could save money and they could help the poor people.

Bird of Matariki

LI: To find out facts about the Matariki Birds.

LI: To strengthen our connections to Matariki.

This week for inquiry we’ve been focusing on Matariki. Matariki is a time where we can come together and celebrate the Maori New Year with our whanau and friends.

The first activity we did was the birds of matariki. For this activity we researched the birds that were eaten in the Matariki feast each year. We expanded our knowledge by finding out how the Maori foul and preserve the meat.

I found this activity fun because I expanded my knowledge of Matariki and found out what is eaten during the Matariki feast. An interesting fact that I learnt was that people eat New Zealand birds during the feast.

Matariki Stars

LI: To understand the meaning behind Matariki.

This week our focus was about Matariki, as it is the time of year we see the Matariki stars in the sky. It is the Maori new year, a time for new beginnings. On Wednesday we had our school wide Matariki celebration. During this week we have completed different tasks to help strengthen our connections to Matariki.

The first task in this DLO was to find where we will see the matariki stars. The next task was about where in the sky is the Matariki stars and write where they are. The last task was about why does the matariki stars disappears in may and reappears in june. This task was fun because I got to learn more about the celebration of Matariki.

Coding with Python

L.I : To Learn how to code the Microbot in the Phyton.

The first one shows the Phyton coding for flashing heart. It flashes between a small heart icon and a large heart Icon. The Main thing to notice between the Phython coding and the blocks is the the forevea loop is the top and bottom of the content in both.
